“Once again Stanton Lanier has demonstrated why he is among the finest composers and pianists on the contemporary scene. Every moment of December Peace offers the sincerity and emotional depth that has typified his recordings for years. Whether in his original compositions or in his brilliant interpretations of Christmas classics, December Peace reveals Stanton’s unique voice. This is music that adds beauty and peace to a world deeply in need of it.”
- Producer Will Ackerman, Grammy Winning Founder of Windham Hill Records

In arranging and composing for December Peace, my heart was to offer peace and rest for your holiday season through a distinctive collection of traditional and original piano melodies. The album also features the beautiful work of Jill Haley on English horn, Eugene Friesen on cello, Jeff Oster on flugel horn and Noah Wilding with angelic vocals.

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750), one of my all-time favorite composers, once said, “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.” In tribute to him, the album opens with his timeless melody, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

Liner Notes:

There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them...saying, “Today...a Savior has been born to you.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

-Luke, 60 A.D.
