HEART TO HEART WALK (2 John)

This track is especially meant to offer you soothing moments of peace, rest, hope and relaxation. Its main and secondary themes feature Steinway grand piano, solo French horn, solo cello, string orchestra, and alto and boy choirs.
The book of 2 John in the Bible only has only one chapter with 13 verses. The key phrases I reflected on as I composed the music included, “Let grace, mercy, and peace be with us in truth and love from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, Son of the Father. Love each other. And this is love; that we walk in obedience to his commands. His command is that you walk in love.” John mentions at the end that he hopes to visit those receiving his letter, and to talk with them face to face, to have a heart-to-heart talk “so that our joy may be complete.”
The Message Bible notes about 2 John say the two most difficult things to get straight in life are love and God. God and love cannot be separated. This made me think about how my life and faith are interwoven and inseparable as well. When I professed my faith in Jesus just before my thirteenth birthday, my “heart to heart walk” with God began in earnest. I meant what I was saying and committing too, but I did not know or fully understand all this would mean, or how this gift of salvation by grace from God would forever change my life. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Even though my sin was completely forgiven as God promises in His Word, it would take many more years for deep appreciation and gratitude to begin taking root in my heart. At the age of thirty I fully surrendered my life, marriage, and career to the Lord. I longed to hear His voice, I wanted to obey Him, and I wanted to love others as He would have me to do. Then at the age of forty He called me to compose Scripture inspired instrumental music to offer His peace and rest in a hurried and hurting world.
We have all likely said or heard the phrase “Heart to heart talk” which refers to a deep and meaningful conversation with a friend or loved one. When the creative idea surfaced to use “Heart to Heart Walk” as the song title, I hoped this would add some curiosity with the invitation to listen. My wife and I love taking walks together, which reminded me that these times together are a “Heart to Heart Walk.” My intimacy with God as my Father, listening for His voice, obeying Him step by step, and loving others for His glory and His impact in their lives is an even deeper and more profound “Heart to Heart Walk.”

Love means following His commandments, and His unifying commandment is that you conduct your lives in love. Anyone who gets so progressive in his thinking that he walks out on the teaching of Christ, walks out on God. But whoever stays with the teaching, stays faithful to both the Father and the Son. I hope to be there soon in person and have a heart-to-heart talk. That will be far more satisfying to both you and me.
